The Oregon Ducks grabbed attention during the NFL Honors on February 6th. One of its graduates, a significant player who enhances his community even further, received the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
Former Duck Arik Armstead has been named the recipient of the esteemed award that honors an NFL player for their contributions to the community and outstanding performance on the field. Frequently viewed as one of the greatest accolades in the NFL, it reflects the character and dedication to assisting others that Armstead represents.
“Being awarded the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award is an amazing privilege—one that transcends the sport of football.” “This recognition symbolizes the strength of service, the duty to support others, and the influence we can generate through education,” stated Armstead. “Through the Armstead Academic Project, my goal has consistently been to supply students with the tools essential for their success.” This acknowledgment reflects that effort, yet there remains a great deal more to accomplish. I’m dedicated to leveraging my platform to foster genuine change—because the efforts continue beyond this point.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell praised Armstead highly in acknowledgment of his award receipt.

The veteran 49er became a free agent during the recent offseason, signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team rich in youthful talent on the defensive line. Upon arrival, Armstead’s presence was sensed in the locker room.
Oregon Ducks icon Joey Harrington used social media to congratulate Armstead while also expressing his pride in being a Duck.
Character is important. Football is a sport that captivates all of us who adore it, but the events occurring off the field are far more significant than those taking place on it.
