Following a hiatus from the last two NBA seasons caused by several knee surgeries, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball could finally return to the court in late November.
Nevertheless, the comeback for the former UCLA star has not been simple, averaging 7.3 points on 34.9% shooting, along with 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists across 32 games played.
On Monday, the Bulls, who were experiencing a six-game losing streak, returned to the court to face Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers.
With nearly six minutes left in the first half, Ball suffered a head injury during a layup attempt by Kelly Oubre. He had to head to the locker room as Kevin Huerter entered the game…
It seems that Ball suffered a head cut and was unable to return to the game. The Bulls officially shared the injury update on X.
“Injury Update: Lonzo Ball (cut on head) will miss the game.”
A head cut won’t keep Ball out for long. Detroit Pistons guard Tim Hardaway Jr. experienced a comparable injury during a November match against the Miami Heat, leading him to miss the subsequent three games.
Nonetheless, Ball might not miss any time whatsoever. In 2019, Luka Doncic sustained a head cut while with the Dallas Mavericks but managed to continue playing.
After the 76ers match, Ball and the Bulls will return to Chicago for a pair of home games. On Wednesday, they will face James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers, followed by Scottie Barnes and the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
