The NFL draft projections for Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard sparked debate throughout the college football season. With a national championship in hand, Howard’s results are difficult to contest.
The question is how Howard will do in the NFL without Jeremiah Smith and the other standout Buckeye receivers. Howard was largely anticipated to be a possible Day 3 selection in the 2024 season.
However, Howard’s display in the College Football Playoff has made some more optimistic about the quarterback as an NFL candidate. Joe DeLeone from Pro Football & Sports Network forecasts that the New York Jets will choose Howard in his newest NFL mock draft.
The analyst predicts that the Jets will select Howard in the third round with the 92nd overall pick. Howard might be the answer for the Jets in a world without Aaron Rodgers.
The Pro Bowler, who has made the roster ten times, currently holds a three-year, $112 million deal that technically covers another season, yet the Jets have declared their plan to part ways with the star player.
“Will Howard concluded his time at Ohio State with a series of impressive performances, securing a chance to start in the NFL,” DeLeone stated on Feb. 22. “His precision, foresight, and awareness in the pocket are sufficient to ultimately secure a starting position in the NFL.”
Howard has decided to participate in the NFL combine as the quarterback strives to strengthen his NFL draft position.
