In the 2023 class, offensive tackle Jayden Hobson was a three-star recruit from Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. He spent a season at Mississippi State, where he didn’t play, before moving to South Alabama. Hobson also did not step onto the field in 2024, leaving the team that August.
After contemplating leaving football, Hobson has joined the 2025 spring roster for the Alabama Crimson Tide, identifying himself as a tight end for Kalen DeBoer’s team on his Instagram account. Standing at 6’5″ and weighing 295 pounds, Hobson possesses the physical attributes to succeed as a tight end or tackle.
Hobson is among ten documented players who departed South Alabama through the transfer portal this year. The Jaguars’ spring match is set for Saturday, April 12.
