The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to bolster their roster ahead of next month’s NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Earlier this offseason, general manager Jason Licht strengthened the pass rush by signing Haason Reddick in free agency. Now, the team has added depth to the defensive line.
On Friday, Greg Auman reported that the Buccaneers have re-signed defensive lineman Eric Banks to a one-year, $1.03 million deal for 2025. Banks, who missed last season with a torn triceps, has four career tackles and last played for the Arizona Cardinals during the 2022-23 season. He will compete for a backup defensive line role this fall.
The Buccaneers initially waived Banks last August following his injury, but he is now fully recovered and expected to contribute as a rotational piece next season. The 27-year-old defensive lineman went undrafted out of UTSA in 2020 and began his NFL journey with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent. He later spent time with the Chargers and Lions in 2021 before joining the Cardinals for two seasons. Despite appearing in just six NFL games, Licht saw enough potential in Banks to bring him back for another opportunity.
