Syracuse basketball is one of several programs that have reached out to Clemson freshman transfer guard Del Jones, according to a media report.
Recruiting analyst Sam Kayser, who operates the X account 24/7 High School Hoops, noted that Jones had scheduled a visit to Vanderbilt on Friday and has also drawn interest from schools like Syracuse, California, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Seton Hall, and San Diego.

Jones has also heard from Cal, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Syracuse, Seton Hall and San Diego and is working on setting up a couple more visits.

According to Kayser, the 6-foot-2, 187-pound Jones is “working on setting up a couple more visits” as he explores his transfer options.
Jones was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class, ranked within the top 150 nationally by multiple recruiting services. Hailing from the talent-rich Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, he comes from a region that has been a key focus for Syracuse’s coaching staff in recruiting efforts.
Clemson, where Jones played his freshman season, finished 27-7 overall in 2024-25, securing an NCAA Tournament berth and establishing itself as one of the top teams in the ACC. In limited minutes for the Tigers, Jones averaged 3.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game, shooting 40.3% from the field, 31.1% from three-point range, and 76.5% from the free-throw line.
In an October 2023 scouting report, 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein highlighted Jones’ speed and toughness, calling him a “legitimate combo guard” who can effectively play on or off the ball. Finkelstein noted that Jones possesses creativity in playmaking but can sometimes struggle with decision-making. He added that Jones thrives when embracing his role as a true point guard while maintaining his aggressive mindset in crucial moments. Though undersized, Jones’ quickness allows him to be a dynamic presence on the floor.
The NCAA transfer portal window opened on March 24 and will remain open until April 22. Reports indicate Syracuse has expressed interest in several transfer targets, including Jones, Arkansas State junior guard Derrian Ford, Robert Morris junior guard/forward Amarion Dickerson, North Dakota junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff, North Dakota State senior guard Jacari White, and Drexel junior guard Kobe Magee.
On Thursday night, UCLA transfer big man William Kyle III announced his commitment to Syracuse via social media.
Following a disappointing 14-19 season, the Orange have seen significant roster turnover. Five players exhausted their eligibility, while four others have entered the transfer portal. Junior guard J.J. Starling and freshman forward Donnie Freeman are set to return next season, while Syracuse will also welcome a four-member 2025 recruiting class.
