Robin Pingeton’s appointment as the new head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team hasn’t been widely popular among fans. However, their opinions may shift if she successfully tackles the crucial challenges ahead of the 2025 season.
The women’s basketball team won’t just see a completely new system under Robin Pingeton—it will also have a revamped offensive approach.
Junior Serah Williams, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, entered the transfer portal shortly after Marisa Moseley’s resignation.
“Thank you, Coach Mo and the coaching staff, for the past three years,” Williams shared in her announcement on X on March 13.
“Thank you to Wisconsin and the Badger community for all of your support. I’m incredibly blessed and grateful. That being said, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal,” Williams said in her announcement.
Last season, Williams averaged 19.2 points per game, along with 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
Carter McCray, the team’s second-leading scorer, averaged 10.6 points per game.
New head coach Robin Pingeton revealed she has already had discussions with Serah Williams. She acknowledged that the Badgers’ offense would face a challenge if Williams leaves.
“Addressing this is my top priority. I’ve already spoken with her,” Pingeton said. “I’m not going to overpromise and underdeliver. I think she’s pretty far along with some other programs. But we’ve met, exchanged texts, and talked on the phone a couple of times, and then she went on break.”
She also shared her admiration for Williams.
“She came by yesterday, and we sat down for a while. I really just wanted to get to know her better and hear her story. I also made sure to tell her how proud I am of everything she’s accomplished,” Pingeton said.
