Heading into his second season with the Kentucky Wildcats, Kenny Brooks has made his first significant move of the offseason by adding Western Kentucky transfer Josie Gilvin to the roster.
A Louisville native, Gilvin averaged 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game last season at WKU. The rising senior was particularly impressive from beyond the arc, boasting a 41.3% shooting percentage from three-point range.
At 6 feet tall, Gilvin brings much-needed experience to Lexington, having played in nearly 100 college games and starting all 32 games during the 2024-25 season. Over the course of three seasons with the Hilltoppers, she accumulated 672 points and even scored 10 points against Kentucky in December.
Gilvin was named to the 2024-25 All-Conference USA Second Team and the C-USA All-Defensive Team.
While she may not be a starter right away, Gilvin will provide valuable depth to Kentucky’s backcourt. Her size and three-point shooting ability are exactly what Coach Brooks needs for the upcoming season.
