Most college programs are settling into their spring routines, using practices to evaluate players and define roles. However, head coach Dave Doeren and the NC State football staff are still putting the finishing touches on their 2025 roster.

That process took a step forward on Saturday as the Wolfpack landed a new addition — former Utah State edge rusher Cian Slone.
Slone made his commitment public on social media, sharing recent photos of himself inside NC State’s football facilities to mark the occasion.

A former All-Mountain West Second Team honoree, Cian Slone entered the transfer portal in January. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound edge rusher is rated as a three-star transfer prospect and is now set to begin his next chapter in Raleigh, joining NC State for his third season at the FBS level.
Slone started his college career at American River College in the JUCO ranks before transferring to Utah State, where he spent the last two seasons. In 2024, he delivered an impressive senior campaign, recording 49 total tackles, a team-best 7.5 sacks, and 9.5 tackles for loss.
His arrival could be a key boost for a Wolfpack squad looking to bounce back from a disappointing 6-7 finish last season.
