Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison is set to hold a private workout on Monday, April 21, at his alma mater, Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The showcase comes just three days ahead of the start of the NFL Draft on Thursday, April 24.

Aside from completing 17 reps on the bench press, former freshman All-American Benjamin Morrison opted out of participating in drills at both the NFL Combine and Notre Dame’s Pro Day. Instead, he chose to give himself extra time to prepare for a private showcase in front of scouts and team executives.
“I’m going to have a private showcase,” Morrison said during the combine. “The date is still to be determined, but I’m going to have a private showcase. Just allow the teams to come out and see what I already know about myself, but allow ’em to see it for them.”
Morrison’s 2024 season was far from smooth.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder last March, forcing him to miss most of spring practices. The junior returned in time for fall camp and started the first six games of the season for Notre Dame, holding opposing quarterbacks to a 58.4 NFL passer rating and allowing just a 44.4% completion rate (12 receptions for 125 yards). He also posted 20 tackles and four pass breakups.
“This is the most challenging year of my life,” Morrison reflected. “If I was being quite honest, I mean, I’ve had the highs of the highs and then you’re faced with these trials and you really have to look yourself in the mirror and figure out who you are as a man.”
How Morrison performs in his private workout will carry significant weight. Scouts remain impressed by his early college film, but they’re eager to evaluate his movement and physical readiness following multiple procedures.
“I know I can run,” Morrison said. “I’m not going to reveal my exact 40 time just yet, but trust me—I can run. That’s really what this whole process is about, proving the speed.”
He continued, “We all know the big question is: Am I going to run the 40? The answer is yes.”
Even so, it’s unlikely Morrison hears his name called in the first round of the NFL Draft.
In his most recent two-round mock draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. projected Morrison to be selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 46 overall pick. That makes his private showcase on April 21 a key opportunity to solidify his status as a potential second-rounder.
One thing is for sure—Morrison will be drafted next weekend.
Then it’ll be time to prove he still has the tools to cover elite receivers like Marvin Harrison Jr.
“The biggest thing now is preparing for football drills,” Morrison said during Notre Dame’s Pro Day. “When I get drafted on April 24, I’m going to be asked to line up and cover one of the best receivers in the world.
“So, the focus is on sharpening my game and elevating it to the next level so I can go out there and shut that receiver down.”
