Kansas basketball has been hard at work this offseason, with head coach Bill Self diving into the transfer portal to reshape the roster. The Jayhawks have already added guards Jayden Dawson and Tre White to bolster the backcourt, but with six scholarships still available, there’s more work to be done. With elite prospect Darryn Peterson joining the fold, the coaching staff is focused on surrounding him with a strong supporting cast.
Whether it’s adding depth behind standout big man Flory Bidunga or securing more consistent backcourt scoring, Self is exploring all options. One of the top targets on his radar is Princeton guard Xaivian Lee, a standout transfer currently drawing plenty of attention. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Lee is scheduled to make an official visit to Kansas this weekend, following a recent trip to St. John’s.

A 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard, Lee is a native of Toronto, Canada. He has one year of eligibility remaining and plans to spend it at a new university.
The former Princeton star averaged 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game last season. Lee knocked down two threes a game and hit them at a 36.6% clip, making him a respectable threat from deep. His all-around production helped earn him two All-Ivy League selections during his time with the Tigers.
Out of 30 possible games last season, Lee scored in double figures in 26 of them. Furthermore, he posted a pair of triple-doubles, which are practically unheard of at the collegiate level. He led the team in points, assists, and finished second in rebounding.
If Lee joins the Jayhawks, it will make for a crowded but exciting backcourt. With Dawson, White, Elmarko Jackson, and Jamari McDowell all looking for minutes alongside Peterson, nothing is going to come easy. Still, Lee’s versatility and experience could make him a solid piece for the new-look Kansas basketball roster.
