After a standout freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils, Cooper Flagg has solidified his status as the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Flagg was instrumental in Duke’s run to the Final Four, averaging 21.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks in five tournament games. For the season, he posted impressive averages of 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game.
Though the NCAA Tournament didn’t conclude as Duke had hoped, Flagg unquestionably demonstrated that he was the top player in college basketball during the 2024-25 season. His remarkable performance earned him numerous accolades, including the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year and the Wooden Award, among others.
However, despite his stellar season, Flagg has yet to officially declare for the NBA Draft. His recent decision to take time to reflect on his next move has sparked speculation that he may be considering another year with the Blue Devils.
As a result, many fans have once again called for Cooper Flagg to return to Duke for the 2025-26 season and finish what he started.
“PLEASE come back,” one fan urged. Another echoed the sentiment with a simple, “one more year!”
“Smart move to develop another year while still earning in college,” commented another supporter.
“College basketball is SO much better than the NBA. And now you get paid! What bigger stage is there than playing in front of 60,000 in a Final Four? NBA Finals pale in comparison. Who wants to play 82 games for a losing franchise?” a fan remarked, clearly trying to persuade Flagg to stay another season with the Blue Devils.
“Now is the time to run it back. Duke can find $10.1 million in NIL or more. Stay @CooperFlagg,” one social media user suggested.
One commenter confidently stated, “He’s coming back to Duke.”
While it seems unlikely that Cooper Flagg will return to the Blue Devils, given the significant financial opportunities he’s leaving behind and the potential risks of injury that could impact his pro future, nothing is certain until he makes his official decision.
