Indiana men’s basketball has brought on Kenny Johnson, previously an assistant at Georgetown, to serve in the same role under new head coach Darian DeVries, per a report from Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star.
According to Osterman, Johnson previously served on Indiana’s staff under former head coach Tom Crean. Since departing in 2014, he has held positions at Louisville, La Salle, National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland (as head coach), worked with former IU coach Archie Miller at Rhode Island, and most recently, served as an assistant at Georgetown.
Known for his strong recruiting ties—particularly in the talent-rich DMV area—Johnson adds valuable experience to DeVries’ inaugural staff. His connections have been instrumental in past recruiting efforts, which played a key role in his hiring at the D.C.-based Georgetown.
With the transfer portal now in full swing, DeVries has landed another proven recruiter as he works to construct his first Indiana roster for the 2025-26 season.
