Ash has spent recent years in the NFL with various teams, most recently serving as a scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He has served as a defensive coordinator at institutions such as Texas and Wisconsin, and perhaps most significantly, he was the head coach at Rutgers for four years.
Ash played college football as a defensive back at Drake prior to starting his coaching journey as a graduate assistant in 1997.
Notre Dame aims to return to the College Football Playoff following a remarkable journey to the championship game this season. Marcus Freeman and his team managed to secure victories against Indiana, Georgia, and Penn State in the Playoff before losing to Ohio State in the finals.
