Baseball

Capers Molinaroli, USC Aiken (Sr., 1b/C, Summerville, S.C.) was named the week’s best player.

• In three games versus Mars Hill on opening weekend, he slugged 1.071 and hit.500, including two home runs, two doubles, and seven RBIs.
• added two doubles and a home run for five RBIs in the season opener, tying a USCA single-game record with five hits.
• Leads the PBC in slugging % and is one of two PBC players with two home runs to start the season. Homered once again in the last game as USCA won 7-5.

Pierce Williams of North Georgia (Grad., Douglasville, Ga.) was named the week’s pitcher.

• UNG won 9-1 on opening day after he pitched five no-hit innings against Lincoln Memorial.
• retired the final seven hitters he faced in order after walking two and striking out seven.
• was the only pitcher in the PBC to go at least five innings without giving up a hit.

Hunter Thompson of USC Aiken (Fr., INF, Evans, Ga.) was named the Freshman of the Week.

• He produced three RBIs, two doubles, and a.583 slugging percentage in his first three collegiate games.
• went 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs in the first game, 3-for-5 with a double and another RBI in the second game, and 2-for-4 with a double in the third game. Had multiple hits in all three games versus Mars Hill.
• Posted a.643 on-base percentage and only struck out once in 12 at-bats. He is presently tied for third place in doubles, fourth in hits, and third in the PBC in batting average.

Softball

Player of the Week: North Georgia’s Sydnee Reaves (Jr., OF, Ashland, Ala.)

• In her Nighthawk debut, she batted.471 with a.765 slugging percentage in four games and blasted a home run in her first at-bat versus #8 UNG.
• went 3-for-4 against Florida Tech, 2-for-4 against West Alabama, and 2-for-5 against Barry in the four games played in the Gulf Shores Invitational.
• scored four runs, including the game-winning run against Tech, and had four RBIs overall with doubles against Barry and Union. At the event, UNG lost 3-1.

Cierra Kinlaw, USC Beaufort (Sr., Claxton, Ga.), was named the pitcher of the week.

• pitched 13.1 innings with two earned runs allowed, 10 strikeouts, and a 1.05 ERA, going 2-0 with a save in three outings during opening weekend. They also limited hitters to a.125 average.
• pitched five innings to defeat Anderson in the first game, giving up two runs while striking out five and avoiding walks. In the second game, he recorded a save in 1.1 innings of one-hit relief.
• pitched a complete-game, seven-inning, two-hit shutout against Converse, allowing only one walk while recording three strikeouts.

Autumn Fisher of USC Aiken (Fr., INF, Inman, S.C.) was named Freshman of the Week.

• With a 1.143 slugging percentage, two home runs, two doubles, and eight RBIs, she hit.571 in her first four collegiate games.
• Was 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs in the second game against Barton. He also had two RBIs in the first game against Barton and another in the second game against Mt. Olive. Had hits in all four games against Mt. Olive and Barton.
• One of three PBC players with two home runs on opening weekend, he hit home runs in both Barton games and leads the league in slugging % and RBIs.

Basketball for Men

 

Inady Legiste (Sr., F., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was named the player of the week.

• With 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, a 60% field goal percentage, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game, he led the Bearcats to two victories last week.
• At Flagler, he had his third double-double of the season with 25 points and 11 rebounds while making 11 of 19 of his attempts from the field.
• scored 22 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and had three blocks against Georgia Southwestern.
  Currently ranked third in blocks, fifth in field goal percentage, and sixth in rebounds in the PBC

Basketball for Women

Caroline Martin of North Georgia was named Player of the Week (Grad., G, Cumming, Ga.)

• hit 47% from the field and 40% from three-point range, averaged 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, had 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game, and recorded a double-double in two victories for the #5 Nighthawks.
  scored 23 points with a career-high 13 rebounds in a victory against Flagler; added three steals and a block;
• and finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds in only 26 minutes of play versus USC Aiken.
• Currently rated fourth in the league in field goal percentage, seventh in steals, ninth in assists, and third in the PBC in scoring and seventh in rebounds.
