On Monday, Notre Dame joined a growing list of teams to extend a scholarship offer to one of Ohio’s top talents in the 2026 recruiting class.
Kaden Gebhardt, a four-star safety from Olentangy High School, shared the scholarship offer on social media.
Gebhardt stands at 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 200 pounds, ranking as one of the top 20 safeties in the nation in his class, per the 247Sports composite. Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson, and Wisconsin are merely a few of the programs that have already extended offers to Gebhardt.
Notre Dame is obviously arriving late with Gebhardt, but that doesn’t imply it no longer has a shot. Notre Dame remains relatively near home since Gebhardt lives just outside Columbus, and if you’ve observed Notre Dame’s secondary in recent seasons, you know that few, if any, have nurtured talent at that position as effectively as the Fighting Irish.
Nonetheless, having Gebhardt visit campus soon will be essential if Notre Dame wants a genuine opportunity in this situation.
