After a string of disappointing seasons in Lawrence, Kansas basketball is still working to restore its dominance in the transfer portal era. Despite beginning back-to-back seasons as the nation’s top-ranked team, Bill Self’s Jayhawks have endured three consecutive early March exits.
With more than 1,000 players already in the portal, the coaching staff is closely monitoring potential additions. Among them is Treysen Eaglestaff, a former North Dakota standout and one of the most dynamic scorers available.

Kansas Jayhawks Showing Interest in Treysen Eaglestaff
Former North Dakota star Treysen Eaglestaff has emerged as a top target for Kansas in the transfer portal. The dynamic 6-foot-6 guard has established himself as an elite scorer, drawing national attention with standout performances, including a 40-point effort in a near-upset against Alabama and a 51-point explosion in a conference tournament win over South Dakota State.
Eaglestaff is one of the most sought-after players in the portal, with powerhouse programs like Kentucky and St. John’s also in the mix. As of March 24, ESPN ranks him as the No. 23 player available.
A Bismarck native, Eaglestaff averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists as a junior while knocking down 2.5 three-pointers per game at a 35.9% clip. Though he thrives as a high-volume scorer, he would likely need to adjust to a more complementary role at Kansas. However, his shot-making ability and offensive versatility could provide valuable depth in the Jayhawks’ backcourt alongside incoming freshman Darryn Peterson.
