By the summer of 2024, Burgess made a strong impression at one of head coach Dave Doeren’s camps. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound signal-caller carried that momentum into his junior season, where he completed 154 of 256 passes (60%) for 2,255 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He also added 596 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 58 carries, helping lead Grayson to a dominant 14-1 season and a state championship title.

RALEIGH, N.C. — One of the Southeast’s rising quarterback prospects is heading back to Raleigh.
Travis Burgess, the talented signal-caller from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, will return to NC State this week for another visit as the Wolfpack continue to prioritize him in their 2026 recruiting class.
Burgess has been on NC State’s radar since the spring of 2023 and solidified his standing with the coaching staff after a strong performance at one of Dave Doeren’s summer camps last year. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound quarterback followed that up with an impressive junior season, throwing for 2,255 yards and 23 touchdowns with just four interceptions, while also rushing for nearly 600 yards and four scores. His leadership helped guide powerhouse Grayson to a 14-1 record and a state championship.
Ahead of his return to campus, Burgess spoke about his growing interest in the Wolfpack program.
“I’ve always liked the way NC State runs its offense,” Burgess said. “The coaches have been great, and there’s a real family feel around the program. I’m excited to get back up there and keep building that relationship.”
With multiple Power Five programs tracking his progress, NC State has made a strong early impression. The upcoming visit could play a key role as Burgess continues to narrow down his options heading into his senior year.
