The Kentucky Wildcats are looking to finalize their 2025-26 roster, with Mark Pope and his staff zoning in on their top remaining targets in the transfer portal.
One such priority is expected to be in Lexington this weekend.
According to Tyler Thompson of KSR, Sam Houston State transfer guard Lamar Wilkerson is scheduled to visit campus. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound guard from Ashdown, Arkansas is also planning visits to Indiana, Auburn, and Ole Miss as he evaluates his next move.
Wilkerson is coming off an impressive season with the Bearkats, where he averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 48% from the field and an elite 44.5% from beyond the arc. He also contributed four rebounds and two assists per game, showcasing his all-around game and physical presence on the wing.
While four programs remain in the mix, this recruitment is shaping up to be a two-horse race between Kentucky and Indiana. The Hoosiers initially held the momentum, but with the Wildcats turning up the pressure, Mark Pope’s staff could be poised to pull ahead.
With the roster nearly complete, landing Wilkerson would address a key need for Kentucky heading into next season. His three-level scoring ability and physical frame could elevate the Wildcats into top-three territory on paper.
Now it’s up to Coach Pope and his staff to close the deal and put the finishing touches on what’s shaping up to be a formidable squad.
