It’s already been an eventful offseason for Kentucky men’s basketball.
Early on, Big Blue Nation was buzzing—with plenty of concern. Mark Pope didn’t exactly get off to a blazing start, and questions quickly began to swirl.
But things took a dramatic turn. Pope and his staff caught fire, securing commitments from Kam Williams, Jaland Lowe, Mouhamed Dioubate, and Jayden Quaintance in quick succession. Thanks to that surge, Kentucky now holds the No. 2 spot in the national transfer class rankings.
Lamar Wilkerson is on campus today for his visit with the Wildcats, and if he ends up committing, there’s a strong chance Kentucky will take over the No. 1 spot in the transfer portal rankings.
Wilkerson has been one of the most electric scorers in the portal, averaging 20.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 47.7% from the field and 44.5% from three. He also chipped in 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game—making him one of the most well-rounded players available.
But just as momentum seemed to be building, Kentucky was hit with unexpected news: incoming freshman Acaden Lewis announced his decommitment from the program Thursday night.
