South Carolina Basketball Picks Up Boston College Transfer Elijah Strong

The South Carolina Gamecocks have added a key piece to their roster by landing Boston College transfer Elijah Strong.

After a return to the NCAA Tournament in the 2023–24 season, the Gamecocks struggled in 2024–25, finishing with a disappointing 2–16 conference record and missing out on March Madness. With big man Nick Pringle entering the transfer portal and testing the NBA Draft waters, South Carolina needed to bolster its frontcourt — and Strong fits the bill.

Strong, who has two years of eligibility remaining, brings scoring ability and experience. He earned significant playing time during his two seasons at Boston College and averaged 9.6 points per game as a sophomore, including a standout 25-point outing against Temple.

With a proven scoring touch in the post, Strong fills a critical need for the Gamecocks. Though this past season didn’t go as hoped, the nature of today’s transfer portal means South Carolina could be just a few key additions away from bouncing back in 2025–26.
