In their search for defensive reinforcements in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons have met with Georgia standouts Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams.
Falcons Maintain Strong Interest in Georgia’s Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft
The Atlanta Falcons have kept a close eye on Georgia defensive stars Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker throughout the 2025 NFL Draft process.
The team met with both highly regarded prospects before attending Georgia’s pro day on March 12. Since then, Walker participated in the Falcons’ local pro day on April 11, and Williams visited the team’s facility on April 16.
Both defenders showcased their skills for NFL scouts on Thursday, with Falcons assistant general manager Kyle Smith and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in attendance, per The Athletic‘s Josh Kendall. Although Atlanta holds the 15th overall pick—potentially outside the range to select either player—it’s still within the realm of possibility.
And just as the Falcons are showing strong interest in the Georgia duo, Williams and Walker have expressed mutual admiration for the franchise.
“It would be nice,” said Williams at Georgia’s pro day. “It’d be a blessing to stay in Georgia and play for the Falcons. I love the GM and the head coach.”
A 6’5″, 260-pound edge rusher with 34 3/8-inch arms, Williams is among the top pass rushers in the 2025 class. A two-time second-team All-SEC selection, he compiled 14 sacks and 23 tackles for loss over 40 games at Georgia. Despite sustaining a Grade 2 ankle sprain early in the 2024 season, Williams powered through and finished with five sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, and 26 pressures.
Walker brings a different kind of impact. At 6’2″, 245 pounds, he blends explosiveness and versatility, excelling as both an inside linebacker and an edge threat. He led the Bulldogs with 10.5 tackles for loss in 2024 and finished the season with 61 total tackles and 34 pressures, per Pro Football Focus.
While Walker is more frequently projected as a top-10 pick than Williams, some evaluators believe his undefined position could cause him to fall—possibly into the Falcons’ range.
Walker, like Williams, spoke highly of Atlanta.
“It would be great,” Walker said on March 12. “The relationship I’ve built with the coaches—not just on the football side—has been meaningful. They’ve made the process really enjoyable.”
If the Falcons were to select Walker, it would fall to Ulbrich to unlock his full potential—and Walker already sees him as the right coach for the task.
“Coach Ulbrich has a visionary plan,” Walker said. “I’m all for that. It’s about how you want to succeed in life. Whatever he’s got planned, I’m with it. I really appreciate the opportunity.”
The 2025 NFL Draft will be held April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
