The Duke Blue Devils, led by head coach Jon Scheyer, made a strong run to the Final Four during the 2024–25 season but ultimately fell short of capturing a national title. As they look ahead to the offseason, the team is preparing for major roster changes—most notably the likely departure of Cooper Flagg, who’s projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Additionally, Kon Knueppel has already declared for the draft, leaving Duke with significant holes to fill.
However, the Blue Devils have now emerged as a potential landing spot for a high-profile player in the NCAA transfer portal. According to award-winning columnist Dick Weiss, Duke is among the programs in the mix for California transfer guard Andrej Stojakovic. Weiss also identified Auburn and Illinois as other schools showing serious interest in the talented sophomore.
Landing Andrej Stojakovic would be a major win for Duke. The Blue Devils pursued him during his high school recruitment, but he ultimately chose to play elsewhere. Now, they may get a second chance.
In the 2024–25 season at California, Stojakovic appeared in 29 games and started 28, posting impressive numbers: 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. He shot 42.7% from the field and 31.8% from beyond the arc.
If his name rings a bell, it’s because he’s the son of former NBA sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic. Coming out of the 2023 recruiting class, Andrej was a four-star recruit, ranked No. 4 among small forwards nationwide, No. 19 overall, and the No. 3 player from California.
Should Duke secure his commitment this time around, it would go a long way in helping them stay competitive and reload for another deep run in the 2025–26 season.
