From the moment standout Cal shooting guard Andrej Stojakovic announced he was entering the transfer portal, UNC basketball fans have been vocal in urging Hubert Davis to pursue him. Social media has been buzzing nonstop with hopes of seeing him in Chapel Hill.
However, early signs suggest that North Carolina may be done making major moves in the portal. With Jarin Stevenson, Kyan Evans, Henri Veesaar, and Jonathan Powell already committed, the roster might be close to set. As exciting as the idea of Stojakovic in Carolina blue sounds, it’s starting to feel like a long shot.
Adding insult to injury? Other programs are already circling, and among them are the Duke Blue Devils. For Tar Heel fans, the idea of Stojakovic joining forces with Jon Scheyer in Durham is the stuff of nightmares.
Andrej Stojakovic’s Duke Link Is Enough to Make UNC Fans Nauseous
While Hubert Davis has been grinding to round out UNC’s 2025–26 roster, things in Durham are far less settled. Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils still have significant holes to fill—especially with Cooper Flagg expected to head to the NBA and other key departures like Kon Knueppel thinning out their depth.
Duke was once seen as the front-runner for 5-star forward Nate Ament, but a new crystal ball prediction now favors Tennessee. Throw in 5-star Shelton Henderson’s decommitment, and it’s safe to say the Blue Devils’ offseason has raised plenty of eyebrows. Not that folks in Chapel Hill are complaining—there’s been plenty of schadenfreude on social media.
Still, Scheyer seems to be cooking up something behind the curtain, and he’s likely eyeing the top-tier talent still in the portal. That includes Andrej Stojakovic, who entered with a “do not contact” tag—suggesting he might already have his next destination in mind.
If it’s not UNC, Tar Heel fans are praying it’s anywhere but Duke. Auburn? Illinois? Fine. But the thought of Stojakovic suiting up in Durham next season is enough to make Carolina fans sick.
