The Kentucky Wildcats are continuing to stay active in the transfer portal as Mark Pope builds out his roster for his second season in Lexington—and the work isn’t done yet.
While Kentucky has already secured several key transfers, the team is still looking to bolster its backcourt and add more production. The Wildcats also boast an impressive incoming recruiting class, headlined by five-star guard Jasper Johnson—Pope’s first top-tier commit at Kentucky—and high four-star forward Malachi Moreno.
So far, the Wildcats have received commitments from Mo Dioubate, Kam Williams, Jaland Lowe, Jayden Quaintance, and Croatian forward Andrija Jelavic.
A new name emerging on Kentucky’s radar is High Point transfer Kimani Hamilton. The 6-foot-7 forward has drawn interest from the Wildcats along with several other top programs.
Hamilton, a Clinton, Mississippi native, began his career at Mississippi State before transferring to High Point, where he flourished. He’s been named to the All-Big South team in back-to-back seasons. In his junior year, Hamilton started all 35 games, shooting a career-high 52% from the field. While he has some range, three-point shooting isn’t his primary strength, hitting 32.2% from deep. He averaged 13.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game this past season.
Hamilton played a key role in helping High Point earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
