UNC basketball freshman Ian Jackson entered the transfer portal two weeks ago. Now, the dynamic scorer and former five-star recruit from New York stands out as one of the top uncommitted players in the country — but that could change soon.
According to recruiting insider Adam Zagoria, Jackson is expected to make his transfer decision official on Monday afternoon.
St. John’s remains the presumed favorite to land him. However, it’s worth noting that Jackson has hinted at an imminent decision since early last week.
Jackson averaged 11.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game last season under UNC head coach Hubert Davis. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard started 12 of the Tar Heels’ 36 games in 2024–25, shooting an efficient 45.6 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 72.3 percent from the free-throw line.
While the 20-year-old has yet to declare for the NBA Draft, several mock drafts project him as a potential second-round pick.
