TRANSFER NEWS: Sooners Add Former Utah State, Oklahoma State DL Siolaa Ricky Lolohea
The Oklahoma Sooners continue to reshape their roster through the NCAA transfer portal as they gear up for a critical 2025 campaign. Capitalizing on the spring transfer window, the program has added another key piece to its defensive line, welcoming former Utah State and Oklahoma State defensive tackle Siolaa Ricky Lolohea to Norman.
Lolohea entered the transfer portal following his redshirt freshman season and will arrive at Oklahoma with three years of eligibility remaining.
In 2024, Lolohea saw action in eight games for Utah State, recording 10 total tackles — including six solo stops and one tackle for loss. His best performance came against No. 21 Boise State, where he tallied three tackles. He also made key contributions against UNLV, No. 20 Washington State, and Colorado State. According to Pro Football Focus, Lolohea logged 145 defensive snaps, registering six pressures — one quarterback hurry and one QB hit.
PFF graded Lolohea with a 54.4 overall defensive mark for the 2024 season, including a 57.7 pass-rush grade and a 52.6 run defense grade.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 305 pounds, Lolohea began his collegiate career at Oklahoma State. He redshirted during the 2023 season and did not appear in any games.
Out of high school, Lolohea was a consensus three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. The 247Sports Composite ranked him as the No. 1,332 overall recruit, No. 143 defensive lineman nationally, and No. 221 player in Texas. The 247Sports Network ranked him slightly higher, listing him as the No. 127 defensive lineman and No. 199 overall recruit in Texas.
Lolohea officially entered the portal on April 18, received an offer from Oklahoma on April 19, visited campus on April 21, and committed just a day later — a rapid sequence influenced by a familiar face. Lolohea reunites with Nate Dreiling, Oklahoma’s new inside linebackers coach, who previously coached him at Utah State while serving as interim head coach and defensive coordinator.
Lolohea now joins an already strong defensive tackle unit that includes returning standout David Stone and fellow additions Damonic Williams, Jayden Jackson, and Gracen Halton. He projects to play nose tackle in Oklahoma’s scheme and brings valuable long-term depth as the Sooners continue building for SEC competition.
