Florida transfer forward Sam Alexis has announced his commitment to Indiana.

Florida transfer forward Sam Alexis announced his commitment to Indiana on Thursday night.

A 20-year-old native of Apopka, Florida, Alexis appeared in 24 games for the Gators last season, averaging 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward has one year of eligibility remaining.

Across 89 career games at Florida and Chattanooga—where he spent his first two collegiate seasons—Alexis has averaged 7.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 1.1 assists per game. His standout year came as a sophomore at Chattanooga, when he started 32 of 33 games and posted averages of 10.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 26.4 minutes per game. That season, his 8.6% block rate ranked 37th nationally, per KenPom.com.

During his time at Chattanooga, Alexis earned third-team All-Southern Conference honors and was named to the league’s all-defensive team in 2023–24. As a freshman, he was selected to the SoCon All-Freshman team.

His top performance last season with national champion Florida came on December 21 against North Florida, when he tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds in just 18 minutes.

For his career, Alexis holds a 52.5% field goal percentage and has shot 51.6% from the free-throw line.

He becomes the ninth transfer portal addition for new IU head coach Darian DeVries this offseason, joining Tucker DeVries, Conor Enright, Reed Bailey, Lamar Wilkerson, Jasai Miles, Tayton Conerway, Jason Drake, and Nick Dorn.
