For the second consecutive year, South Alabama didn’t have a player selected in the NFL draft. However, several former Jaguars have signed with NFL teams as undrafted free agents.
Here’s a current list:
DJ Thomas-Jones, tight end — Pittsburgh Steelers
Thomas-Jones, who previously starred at Saraland High School, ran a 4.63-second 40-yard dash and completed the 20-yard shuttle in 4.21 seconds at South Alabama’s Pro Day. A two-year starter for the Jaguars, he accumulated 73 receptions for 653 yards and 11 touchdowns over his career. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissaro, Thomas-Jones received a signing bonus of $30,000, which is the highest ever given by the Steelers to a non-quarterback UDFA.
Jamaal Pritchett, wide receiver — New York Jets
Pritchett, a native of Jackson, was named a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection in 2024 and took part in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. A former walk-on who started his college career at Tuskegee, he tied a South Alabama program record with 91 receptions last season and ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at Pro Day.
Wy’Kevious Thomas, nose tackle — Seattle Seahawks
Thomas, hailing from Riverdale, Ga., was a four-year starter for the Jaguars and earned second-team All-Sun Belt honors in 2024. Over the course of 66 career games at South Alabama, he registered 176 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. Last year, former Jaguars defensive end Jamie Sheriff made the Seattle Seahawks roster as a UDFA.
Jeremiah Webb, wide receiver — New England Patriots
Webb, a Chicago native, played three seasons at South Alabama after transferring from South Dakota. His best season came in 2024, when he caught 36 passes for 649 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 18 yards per reception.
