COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – University of South Carolina (USC) senior guard Myles Stute has received a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA, granting him an additional year of eligibility. As a result, Stute will return to USC for the 2025-2026 season.
“I want to thank Coach Paris and the entire coaching staff for their continued belief in me throughout this process, as well as our medical staff for their help in getting me healthy and back on the court,” said Stute. “It hasn’t been easy, but I’m grateful to everyone who has supported my recovery. I’m really looking forward to joining my new teammates in June and beginning this journey for the upcoming season.”
Stute’s return follows a season-ending blood clot in his leg, which caused him to miss the remainder of last year after starting the first 14 games. He has since been medically cleared to participate in all basketball activities.
“Myles is a great teammate and a hardworking individual,” said head coach Lamont Paris. “It’s tough to see any young player’s career derailed by something so challenging, but through it all, Myles remained supportive of his teammates. That’s who he is—a great person with a positive outlook. It was a special moment to hear the gratitude and emotion in his voice when he found out he would receive another year of eligibility. Equally rewarding was the news that his treatment had been successful and he was cleared to return to the court without any restrictions. I’m incredibly excited for Myles and his family to have this opportunity.”
Stute is one of three returning players from last year’s roster, alongside Cam Scott and Jordan Butler.
