BREAKING NEWS: FSU receiver heads to Arkansas in transfer move

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Former Florida State wide receiver Jalen Brown has announced his commitment to Arkansas, per 247Sports.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Florida State transfer wide receiver Jalen Brown has committed to Arkansas, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-1, 174-pound redshirt freshman appeared in nine games for the Seminoles last season, starting twice and recording eight receptions for 75 yards — four of which went for first downs.

A highly touted recruit out of high school, Brown originally signed with LSU as the No. 91 overall prospect in the 2023 class. He was ranked the No. 14 wide receiver and No. 19 player in Florida by 247Sports, choosing the Tigers over 33 other offers, including Michigan, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Brown becomes Arkansas’ second addition from Florida State in the past 10 days. Quarterback Trever Jackson also joined the Razorbacks on April 24. Jackson saw limited action in 2024, playing just one snap — a two-yard rush — against Charleston Southern. He will arrive in Fayetteville with four years of eligibility remaining after serving as Florida State’s scout team quarterback during his freshman year.

A 4-star recruit out of high school, Jackson was part of FSU’s No. 11 ranked signing class. He entered the portal ranked No. 1,216 overall and No. 89 among quarterbacks, while finishing as the No. 391 overall recruit, No. 26 passer, and No. 54 player in Florida in the 2023 cycle, according to 247Sports.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas continues to build an impressive transfer class, landing 31 players through the portal so far — a haul that currently ranks No. 10 in the SEC and No. 17 nationally, according to 247Sports.

The Razorbacks’ offense made a major leap in 2024, producing 246 plays of 10 or more yards — the third-most in the FBS — up from just 139 (ranked No. 108) the previous season. Much of that explosiveness came from a deliberate shift in offensive strategy, incorporating a mix of smaller, quick-twitch receivers with bigger, more physical targets like sophomore Monte Harrison, Florida/Pitt transfer Andy Jean, and Charlotte transfer Omega Blake.

Leading the charge last season was senior wideout Andrew Armstrong, who led the SEC with 78 receptions for 1,140 yards and one touchdown. Armstrong signed a free agent deal with the Miami Dolphins following last weekend’s NFL Draft.

While the roster is nearing completion, head coach Sam Pittman continues to make late additions. One of the latest is UCF linebacker transfer Andrew Harris. Arkansas also extended an offer last week to Hawaii wide receiver Dekel Crowdus, who is drawing interest from Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Washington State, and others.

Crowdus, a former 4-star recruit who initially signed with Kentucky in the 2021 class, made a fresh start with Hawaii after the 2023 season. In his lone season there, he recorded 16 catches for 402 yards and four touchdowns, topping 50 receiving yards in five games.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Former Hawaii wide receiver Dekel Crowdus continues to draw interest in the transfer portal, including a recent offer from Arkansas. As a recruit, Crowdus earned more than 20 scholarship offers and was ranked the No. 307 overall prospect in the 2021 class, the No. 49 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 4 overall player in Kentucky, according to 247Sports.

Crowdus isn’t the only receiver with SEC roots to find his way through the portal. Arkansas redshirt senior O’Mega Blake followed a similar path, transferring to Charlotte after a fluctuating stint with South Carolina before landing with the Razorbacks this offseason.

While a visit date for Crowdus has yet to be confirmed, one wouldn’t be surprising given Arkansas’ aggressive portal activity and ongoing efforts to boost its receiving corps with both speed and versatility.
