NC State basketball alum DJ Horne is still in the midst of his rookie professional season, suiting up for MLP Academics Heidelberg (17-14) in Germany’s top-tier Basketball Bundesliga. A key contributor all year, Horne — the leading scorer for NC State’s 2023–24 Final Four squad — has continued to show his scoring prowess overseas.

However, entering this week’s 102-85 win over Wuerzburg, the 24-year-old had been in a bit of a slump. During a four-game losing skid, Horne managed just 27 total points and struggled from deep, hitting only 4-of-22 three-point attempts.
He bounced back in a big way.
Following back-to-back single-digit scoring games for the first time all season, Horne erupted with a career-high performance in Heidelberg’s much-needed win. The Raleigh native poured in 28 points, along with four rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block, and only one turnover in 33 minutes of action. He shot 11-for-23 from the floor, 5-for-12 from three, and was perfect at the line (1-for-1).
Through 29 appearances this season, DJ Horne is averaging 14.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 26.6 minutes per game—solid numbers that underscore his steady impact in his first year as a professional.
