Now, the excitement for UNC basketball fans has only grown—legendary Tar Heel Vince Carter is also joining the team!
Vince Carter, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, is set to join NBC Sports this fall as a studio analyst. According to NBC’s official announcement, Carter will appear in the studio one or more nights a week throughout the season and into the playoffs, as the NBA makes its return to NBC and debuts on Peacock in October.
NBC last aired NBA games from 1990 to 2002, but after years away from the spotlight, the network is stepping back onto the hardwood. Ahead of the 2025–2026 season, NBC and the NBA have signed a landmark 11-year deal to bring basketball back to the network—a move already generating major buzz among fans.
In NBC’s press release, Carter expressed his excitement about joining the team:
“I could not be more excited and appreciative to have the opportunity to be a part of the historic return of the NBA to NBC and now Peacock. I am truly looking forward to joining Melo in the studio and the rest of the broadcast team overall, as we embark on bringing NBA fans best-in-class coverage of the league they love.”

With both Vince Carter and Michael Jordan—widely considered the G.O.A.T.—involved in NBC’s NBA coverage, Tar Heel pride is at an all-time high.
