Kentucky Basketball Sends a Strong Statement to Georgetown Hoyas

The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team has scheduled its second exhibition game for the upcoming season, announcing a matchup against the Georgetown Hoyas at Rupp Arena on October 30.

Georgetown is led by head coach Ed Cooley, now entering his third season with the program. After a 9-23 debut campaign, Cooley guided the Hoyas to an 18-16 finish last season, setting the stage for continued improvement in Year 3.

Returning to lead the Hoyas is junior Malik Mack, who started all 32 games he played last season. Mack averaged 12.9 points per game, led the team with 59 made three-pointers, and shot 35.5% from beyond the arc.

Details regarding tip-off time and television coverage will be released at a later date.

Thanks to recently adopted NCAA rules allowing Division I programs to compete in preseason exhibition games, this high-profile showdown was added to the schedule. The game will not impact either team’s official record or player statistics.

Kentucky will also host the Purdue Boilermakers in an earlier exhibition game at Rupp Arena on October 24.
