The Houston Texans are aiming to secure a third consecutive AFC South title in 2025, something the franchise has never achieved before. However, Indianapolis Colts safety Camryn Bynum has made it clear that the Texans will have to fight for it.
According to the newly released 2025 NFL schedule, the Texans and Colts will square off twice: in Week 13 (in Indianapolis) and Week 18 (at NRG Stadium in Houston). Bynum, who joined the Colts in free agency this offseason, is especially excited about that Week 18 clash.
“It’s smart they put it at 18, because they know that’s going to be the game that decides it all,” Bynum said on the “Up & Adams” show with Kay Adams on May 23. “I’ve heard all about the rivalry. Everyone says Week 18 is the one—tons of energy, trash talk, and a crazy atmosphere—because it’s for the division.”
Bynum wasn’t just hyping up the rivalry, though. He also acknowledged the Texans’ strength, having faced and defeated them 34-7 while playing for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 last season. Bynum described the Texans as a “really good” and “stacked team.”
“I’m excited for that one, for sure,” Bynum said.
The upcoming matchups will mark the 48th and 49th meetings in a rivalry that, despite being one of the NFL’s shortest—dating back to the Texans’ debut in 2002—has quickly become one of the most intense.
Colts Continue to Play Big Brother Role Over Texans
The Texans have claimed victory over the Colts in three consecutive matchups and in four of their last five games overall.
Their first meeting in 2022 ended in a tie, but before that, the Colts had dominated with four straight wins and nine of the previous 11. Despite the Texans’ recent success, Indianapolis still holds a commanding 33-13-1 advantage in the all-time series.
C.J. Stroud, who dropped his first encounter with the Colts, has since reversed the trend.
Conversely, the Colts find themselves back in quarterback uncertainty.
Anthony Richardson, drafted just two picks after C.J. Stroud, is still on the roster, but his future is unclear after he lost the starting role to Joe Flacco, who has since signed with the Cleveland Browns. To fill the void, the Colts added Daniel Jones in free agency.
Jones, the No. 6 overall pick by the New York Giants in 2019, spent part of the 2024 season as Bynum’s teammate with the Vikings.
