FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball has bolstered its roster with the addition of Amere Brown, a 2025 class guard from Pennsylvania.
The 5-10, 160-pound point guard from Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh is an ESPN 3-star recruit, ranked as the No. 50 point guard nationally and the No. 8 prospect in Pennsylvania. A versatile athlete, Brown excelled as a defensive back and receiver for the Wolverines’ football team. He received a basketball offer from Bryant University and took an unofficial visit to Penn State alongside Arkansas freshman Meleek Thomas in 2022.
Brown joins the Razorbacks as a walk-on, becoming part of their No. 6-ranked freshman class per 247Sports, alongside Darius Acuff, Isaiah Sealy, Karim Rtail, and Thomas. The team also welcomes transfers Nick Pringle (South Carolina) and Malique Ewin (Florida State), while retaining D.J. Wagner, Trevon Brazile, Billy Richmond, and Karter Knox from last season’s rotation.
On Monday, rising sophomore Karter Knox, a former 4-star prospect, withdrew from the NBA Draft. As of Wednesday morning, Adou Thiero remains in the draft process, with the withdrawal deadline set for 10:59 p.m. Central on Wednesday to retain collegiate eligibility.
During a May 13 stop on the One Razorback Roadshow in Memphis, Arkansas coach John Calipari hinted at potential activity in the NCAA transfer portal, noting that decisions could hinge on Knox’s status. “If there’s a special young man out there who could fit with this group, we’d consider it,” Calipari said.
