After missing out on Juan Soto, the Yankees shifted strategies and brought in Cody Bellinger, Devin Williams, Max Fried, and Paul Goldschmidt. However, uncertainties continue to exist about their infield circumstances.

Cabrera has been viewed as a possibility to serve as the team’s regular third baseman or to address the need at second base. Recent speculation indicates that the team might opt to sign an additional veteran to reinforce their infield, which faced challenges defensively in 2024.

Recently, the Yankees have been associated with Gavin Lux, who was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Cincinnati Reds, as well as the San Diego Padres’ contact expert Luis Arraez and free agents Brendan Rodgers and Jorge Polanco.

However, Cabrera, who posted a batting line of 247/.296/.365 with eight homers and 36 RBIs in 326 plate appearances, might still be a consideration for New York.
