COLUMBUS, Ohio — As the Ohio State basketball team begins its summer preparations for the 2025-26 season, one expected newcomer will not be joining the program just yet.
Dorian Jones, a four-star recruit ranked No. 114 nationally and the No. 19 shooting guard in the 2025 class, was projected to be part of a ___-man freshman class. However, Jones announced Friday—via a now-deleted Instagram post—that he will delay his enrollment to focus on personal and athletic development over the next year.
“As I reflect on my development, this next year is an opportunity for me to grow more prior to college,” Jones said in the post. “I won’t be enrolling at Ohio State this year, but I look forward to continuing our relationship.”
While Jones remains committed to Ohio State and plans to be part of the program’s future, his decision creates an unexpected vacancy on the Buckeyes’ 2025-26 roster.
