In a game missing leading scorer Sarah Ashlee Barker, No. 18 Alabama suffered its first SEC loss of the season, getting crushed by No. 5 Texas with a score of 84-40.
“We tried to remain positive and focus on the next play,” said Alabama head coach Kristy Curry after the game. “Unfortunately, things just didn’t go our way tonight. You have to give credit to Texas; it was one of those nights where everything fell into place for them.”
Alabama fell behind early, trailing 29-7 at the end of the first quarter, and the situation did not improve from there. Karly Weathers was the top scorer for the Crimson Tide with just seven points. Alabama (15-2, 2-1 SEC) will look to bounce back against Ole Miss on Sunday at 3 p.m.

- Alabama soccer has welcomed five new players for the spring season, including three freshmen and two transfers. The newcomers are Olivia Belcher, Avery Brown, Fiona Mahan, Larkin Thomason, and Paige Thompson. Brown joins the team after spending the last two seasons at Ole Miss, while Belcher has played two seasons at Mercer.
