FAYETTEVILLE — Two top-tier 4-star recruits, offensive lineman Ben Mubenga and safety Tylan Wilson, will take official visits to the University of Arkansas this weekend.
Mubenga, a 6-5, 283-pound prospect from Buford, Ga., visited Georgia Tech last weekend and has upcoming visits to North Carolina State and Florida State after Arkansas. He holds scholarship offers from Arkansas, Michigan, LSU, Oregon, Missouri, Auburn, Texas A&M, and others. Mubenga praised Razorback offensive line coach Eric Mateos for his genuine approach.
“Coach Mateos and I built a relationship even before he offered me,” Mubenga said. “He watched me work out months before the offer.”
Mateos extended the offer on Jan. 2, prompting Mubenga to plan a Fayetteville visit. “His plan for me is solid, and he’s a genuine guy,” Mubenga said. “He’s a player-led coach, not like others. We’ve talked for hours, even when I was injured. That stood out.”
Rivals ranks Mubenga as a 4-star recruit and the No. 43 offensive tackle in the 2026 class. With a 3.2 GPA, he aims to study physical therapy in college. His parents, joining him in Fayetteville with his 6-year-old brother, prioritize academics.
“They know I can play anywhere, but they want a strong education as a fallback,” Mubenga said. He plans to commit on July 7.
Wilson, a 6-3, 197-pound safety from Pascagoula, Miss., received his first scholarship offer from Arkansas co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson, a Mississippi native, on Jan. 18.
“Coach Woodson gave me my first offer,” Wilson said. “He’s from my area, and I like his coaching style.”
Wilson has since earned offers from Ole Miss, Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M, Miami, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Louisville, Florida State, Auburn, Maryland, and others. He visited Clemson recently and will head to Texas A&M and Ole Miss after Arkansas. His commitment is set for July 18.
Woodson has frequently visited Wilson’s school. “He’s been down here a lot, and I’ve asked him everything I needed to,” Wilson said. His father also connects regularly with Woodson, speaking every other day and viewing him as a “very good guy.”
On3.com ranks Wilson as a 4-star recruit, the No. 21 safety, and No. 213 overall prospect in the 2026 class.
