Braylon Outlaw, a Class of 2026 linebacker from Pike Road High School in Alabama, has reaffirmed his commitment to Tennessee, ending his recruitment process despite interest from Ole Miss. The 6-foot, 212-pound prospect, who committed to the Vols on November 8, announced Thursday via his X account that he is shutting down all further recruitment, canceling a planned official visit to Ole Miss in September. Outlaw expressed gratitude to all schools and coaches involved but confirmed his loyalty to Tennessee, stating, “I am shutting down all further recruitment. @Vol_Football #GBO,” alongside a graphic of an orange padlock with Tennessee’s Power “T” logo.
Outlaw’s decision comes just weeks before his scheduled official visit to Tennessee on June 20. He has remained a frequent visitor to Knoxville, attending the Vols’ “865 Live” event on May 24, a spring practice in April, a junior day in January, and a practice in December. As the only projected linebacker in Tennessee’s 2026 recruiting class, Outlaw emphasized his strong bond with the program, telling GoVols247, “I love my relationship with Tennessee, and that’s home.”
Despite Ole Miss hosting him twice since February and pushing for an official visit, Outlaw made it clear last month that he was a “solid commitment to Tennessee,” noting it would be “tough to steal” him. A recent visit from Vols defensive coordinator Tim Banks, who praised Outlaw’s athleticism and reaffirmed their close relationship, further solidified his decision.
Ranked No. 641 overall, No. 50 linebacker, and No. 27 in Alabama in the 2026 class per the 247Sports Composite, Outlaw is a three-star prospect on 247Sports, where he’s listed as the No. 99 linebacker and No. 40 rising senior in Alabama.
