Fans are eager to find out: Can Ohio State land its next five-star receiver from Michigan?

Dakota Guerrant, ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect and No. 4 receiver in the 247Sports composite, returned to Ohio State’s campus on Wednesday for their seven-on-seven tournament. The Harper Woods High School standout made a strong impression.

“I’ve visited a few times, just here last Saturday, but this time I’m working out and taking it all in,” Guerrant said. “I’m hoping to see coaches Brian Hartline, Devin Jordan, and maybe Ryan Day.”

With 38 reported offers according to 247Sports, Guerrant’s performance on Wednesday showcased his elite skills. His precise route-running and knack for getting open were undeniable.

He cited Ohio State’s Carnell Tate as an inspiration, admiring his smooth routes and reliable hands. “That’s the style I want to mirror,” Guerrant noted.

On Ohio State, he said, “They’re Receiver U. They produce NFL talent, they win, and they have it all. It speaks for itself.”

Nearby, Dakota Guerrant’s potential future teammate, five-star Ohio State commit Jamier Brown, was competing with Wayne High School at the same seven-on-seven tournament.

Brown has been vocal about wanting Guerrant to join him in Columbus. “All the time!” Guerrant laughed when asked how often Brown recruits him. “Jamier and I would make a great duo.”

The task of securing Guerrant’s commitment falls to Ohio State and receivers coach Brian Hartline. Guerrant is already impressed by Hartline’s approach. “His energy is great during practices and workouts,” Guerrant said. “He’s super detailed and direct. Every small thing matters, which is why his players become first-round NFL draft picks.”

Guerrant is done with camps but plans to visit Tennessee, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Michigan soon. He has no return trips to Columbus scheduled yet.

Back home in Michigan, he faces some playful pressure. “‘You’re built for Michigan,’ they tell me,” Guerrant said with a chuckle. “‘Don’t join the other side!’”

Given Ohio State’s recent success in recruiting top receivers, Guerrant landing with the Buckeyes remains a real possibility.
