Shortly after receiving an offer from NC State during a recent camp, Kinston (N.C.) wide receiver Tyreek Copper wasted no time locking in an official visit. That visit led to a commitment, as Copper announced his pledge to the Wolfpack on Saturday evening while on campus.
Copper chose NC State over offers from Army, Navy, Campbell, Elon, Princeton, and others. He becomes the program’s first wide receiver commit in its 2026 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2, 189-pound pass catcher delivered a standout junior season, recording 77 receptions for 1,391 yards and 16 touchdowns. That followed a strong sophomore year in 2023, when he hauled in 60 catches for 918 yards and 13 scores.
Over three high school seasons, Copper has averaged 15.5 yards per reception and 75.7 yards per game. His junior campaign was his most dynamic yet, averaging nearly 100 yards per game (99.4) as a primary deep threat for the Vikings.
Copper is now the 10th overall commitment in NC State’s 2026 class. He joins Buford (Ga.) running back Dylan McCoy, Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal offensive tackle Brady Sakowitz, and Pfafftown (N.C.) Reagan quarterback Jacob Smith as offensive pledges.
On the defensive side, the Wolfpack’s class includes Locust Grove (Ga.) safety Markel Aguirre, Winter Park (Fla.) cornerback Jordan Jackson, IMG Academy (Fla.) defensive lineman Carmelo McKenzie, Paramus (N.J.) Catholic linebacker Jordan Moreta, Pittsburgh (Pa.) Woodland Hills linebacker Zykir Moore, and Milford Mill Academy (Md.) safety Koby Sarkodie.
