It’s been said before, but it bears repeating: when Virginia Tech hired Brent Pry to replace Justin Fuente, the former Penn State defensive coordinator knew rebuilding the program meant reestablishing strong recruiting ties within Virginia. While it hasn’t happened overnight, Pry and his staff are steadily making progress.
Virginia Tech has seen success in the transfer portal over the past year, and in-state high school recruiting is trending upward. On Sunday, the Hokies landed a commitment from three-star cornerback Zaevion Cleveland—marking their sixth pledge for the 2026 class and further solidifying a growing pipeline from Green Run High School.
Green Run to Virginia Tech: A Pipeline Takes Shape
Cleveland joins fellow Green Run standout Kamren Johnson, an edge rusher who committed the previous weekend. Their visits to Blacksburg were full of familiar faces—like redshirt freshman wide receiver Keylen “Brodie” Adams, and incoming freshmen Zeke Chinwike, Knahlij Harrell (CB), and Jayden Anderson (WR), all Green Run products.
Pry and his staff have put in the work on the recruiting trail, prioritizing Virginia—and it’s showing. In just the last 10 days, they’ve landed two key commitments from Virginia Beach. While these additions strengthen the roster and regional connections, the next step is translating recruiting wins into on-field success.
Recruiting visits are now on pause until the 2025 season, but the bond between Green Run and Virginia Tech looks stronger than ever.
