Mike Norvell and Chris Thomsen have a well-earned reputation for successfully recruiting elite tight end talent—and they’ve done it again. On Monday, the Florida State Seminoles added another high-profile prospect to their 2026 class: blue-chip tight end Xavier Tiller. He becomes the latest addition to the Tribe26 group, committing to FSU over top contenders Alabama and Auburn.
Tiller, a 6-foot-4, 212-pound standout from Fairburn, Georgia, held 35 offers from programs across the country. Along with the Crimson Tide and Tigers, Florida State beat out schools such as Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A\&M, USC, and Wisconsin.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Tiller is rated as the No. 204 overall prospect in the nation, the 11th-ranked tight end, and the 24th-ranked player in Georgia. His skill set allows him to line up in multiple roles across the offense—whether split out wide, at H-back, or in-line. With excellent hands and a wide catch radius, Tiller brings versatility to both traditional formations and multiple tight end sets.
During his junior season at Langston Hughes High School, he posted 25 receptions for 344 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore, he tallied the same number of catches for 352 yards, with seven scores—demonstrating consistent production and red-zone ability.
