N.C. State Men’s Basketball Adds Ole Miss to Growing Non-Conference Schedule
The N.C. State men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season is beginning to take shape, with another SEC opponent added to the slate. According to CBS Sports college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein, the Wolfpack will face Ole Miss on December 21 in Greensboro as part of a new two-year series.
The return game is scheduled for the 2026–27 season, to be played at a location near Oxford, Mississippi. This matchup will mark the second meeting between the programs in three seasons. They last met in the 2023 ACC-SEC Challenge, where Ole Miss defeated N.C. State 72–52, evening the all-time series at 2–2.
The Ole Miss game becomes the second confirmed SEC matchup for N.C. State this season. The team is also slated to visit Auburn on December 3. Additionally, CBS Sports reports that N.C. State will play South Carolina in an exhibition game in Greensboro, though further details have not yet been announced.
Beyond SEC competition, N.C. State is set to take on Kansas on December 13 at Lenovo Center and will participate in the Maui Invitational during Thanksgiving week.
First-year head coach Will Wade emphasized the program’s competitive mindset in non-conference scheduling.
“We’re going to challenge ourselves in the ACC, we’re going to challenge ourselves in the non-conference,” Wade said. “We want to compete against the best. You can’t be the best playing a bunch of bad teams. You get better by playing the best teams in the country.
“I like to compete against the best. I don’t care who’s coaching the other team. We want to compete. We want to play the best… We’ll go schedule some Hall of Fame coaches if we need to.”
N.C. State’s incoming recruiting and transfer class is ranked among the top 25 nationally, adding further excitement ahead of Wade’s debut season.
