Former Virginia Tech QB Commit Peyton Falzone Flips Again — This Time to the SEC
Nearly a year ago, on June 30, 2024, Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry secured his first commitment from the Class of 2026: four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone. It was a major early win for Pry and the Hokies.
But things changed quickly. In a surprising move last November, Falzone decommitted from Virginia Tech and reopened his recruitment. Not long after, the standout quarterback from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, committed to Penn State, choosing to stay in his home state and play for James Franklin and the Nittany Lions — a decision that, in hindsight, seemed inevitable.
Or so it seemed.
Now, in another twist, Falzone has flipped his commitment once again — this time leaving the Big Ten behind to join the SEC. The highly touted signal-caller is headed to Auburn.
In just 12 months, Falzone has committed to schools in the ACC, Big Ten, and now the SEC. It’s been a wild recruiting journey — and it may not be over yet.
Standing at 6-foot-5 with a strong arm, Peyton Falzone drew interest from programs like Syracuse, Utah, Iowa, and others — in addition to Virginia Tech and Penn State — during his recruitment. Auburn, however, wasn’t a major player in the race until recently. Now, the Tigers have landed the No. 208 overall prospect in the Class of 2026, according to On3 Sports.
As a junior at Nazareth High School, Falzone showcased his dual-threat ability by completing 146 of 278 passes for 2,135 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. On the ground, he added 697 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 78 carries.
It’s a major pickup for Hugh Freeze and Auburn — but the big question now is whether they can hold on to him. As Virginia Tech and Penn State have already learned, that’s easier said than done.
