
During much of the Hubert Davis era, North Carolina’s offense has been steered by undersized point guards. RJ Davis (listed at 6-foot) and Elliot Cadeau (6-foot-2) excelled in their respective strengths — scoring and playmaking — but their size posed challenges on the defensive end.
The last tall, high-impact point guard in Chapel Hill was Coby White, a 6-foot-5 scoring machine who averaged 16.1 points per game in his lone season before heading to the NBA. Now, a new name could emerge in that mold: Nasir Anderson, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound lead guard from Norcross High School in Georgia.
Anderson, a rising junior in the class of 2027, recently received a scholarship offer from North Carolina — joining a rapidly growing list of major programs vying for his commitment. Alabama has also extended an offer, and since June 15, he’s picked up interest from an impressive list of programs:

A 5-star recruit and the No. 1 point guard in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite, Anderson brings size, strength, and aggressiveness to the position. His physical tools allow him to attack the rim with power, and his playmaking instincts are advanced for his age.
Earlier this month, Anderson shined on the international stage, leading Team USA to a gold medal at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup. He was named tournament MVP after averaging 12.3 points and 6.8 assists per game, helping the Americans to a perfect 6-0 record.
Nasir Anderson will undoubtedly have his choice of top-tier programs. With North Carolina showing renewed investment in its basketball future, the hope is that Hubert Davis can assemble a compelling financial package to keep the Tar Heels firmly in contention for Anderson’s commitment. Beyond the dollars, UNC’s storied legacy, national reach, and clear need at the point guard position should make Chapel Hill a highly appealing destination on its own.
