Colts Fans Speak: Summer Survey Results

The “dog days of summer” have arrived, and for the Indianapolis Colts, free agency and the NFL Draft are in the rearview mirror, with training camp still a few weeks away.

The Colts have announced an open competition for the starting quarterback position between third-year pro Anthony Richardson and veteran free agent Daniel Jones.

Richardson brings familiarity with head coach Shane Steichen’s system from his two seasons with the team, while Jones has an edge this offseason, having fully participated in OTAs and veteran minicamp. Meanwhile, Richardson has been recovering from a surgically repaired right throwing shoulder.

As the summer heat and training camp intensity rise, the quarterback battle is expected to be fierce. A majority of Colts fans (56%) are rooting for Richardson to secure the QB1 role over Jones and rookie sixth-round pick Riley Leonard.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the starting quarterback position this offseason, Colts fans remain cautiously optimistic about the team’s playoff prospects. A recent poll shows 56% of fans believe the Indianapolis Colts will secure an AFC playoff berth, ending the franchise’s postseason drought since 2020.

Though the Indianapolis Colts may not be viewed as top contenders in 2025, they possess talent on both offense and defense. Playing in the relatively weak AFC South could work to their advantage, provided they capitalize on the opportunity this season.
