Michigan Football Lands 4-Star 2026 WR Travis Johnson
Michigan football made a major splash on the recruiting trail Friday with a commitment from four-star 2026 wide receiver Travis Johnson. The Wolverines have struggled in recent years to bring in top-tier WR talent, but their 2026 class is shaping up to be loaded with skill. Johnson is a big-time addition for head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff—and he recently opened up about why Michigan felt like home.
Johnson had plenty of high-level offers and took official visits to several powerhouse programs. But in the end, Michigan stood out.
“Michigan was the best fit for me,” Johnson told Rivals. “Coach Bellamy and Coach Moore—we clicked from day one when they offered me. And with Coach Chip Lindsey as the new offensive coordinator, I love the new system. Plus, with Bryce Underwood coming in at quarterback, I could really see myself thriving there.”
For Johnson, it wasn’t just about football. It was about relationships and the broader opportunity Michigan offers.
“The people,” he said. “It’s Michigan. It has a big network. The people are good. All my guys from Virginia are there.”
Michigan’s strong team culture, which draws in many top recruits, resonated with Johnson as well. The Wolverines’ recent national championship only added to the appeal.
“Just the culture, for real. And they won the natty two years ago,” he said. “I want to win one, too. I’m going to give my all every step of the way to help get another one.”
Johnson is confident in his choice—and proud of it.
“It’s amazing to be a Michigan man,” he said.
With Johnson on board, Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class continues to impress. Sherrone Moore looks poised to bring in another elite group of talent.
